I’m Jo, and I’m pleased you‘re here.
Deciding that therapy might be helpful for you can be really daunting - finding someone who is a great fit (like your favourite shoes) can take a bit of work.
But when you find them, it can be life-changing.
I‘m all about helping people. As a psychotherapist and counsellor, nothing makes me happier than building a positive relationship with clients and seeing you take control of your story.
As an aside, I’m as passionate about gardening as I am about helping people. I see lots of parallels between providing the right conditions for plants and people to grow.
Do I have all the answers? Definitely not - I’m not Google! But I know what it’s like to feel ashamed. Angry. Isolated. Lost.
Change might not be easy, but whatever boat you’re rowing, I’m in there with you.
I offer a free initial 20-minute assessment (usually on the phone or via Zoom) for individuals. If you’re thinking about couples counselling, our initial conversation is half an hour.
This gives you a chance to tell me a bit about yourself and what’s brought you to therapy, and ask any questions you might have. After that, if you feel comfortable, we‘ll agree a suitable time to talk on a regular basis. It’s important that you are able to commit to your sessions - our relationship forms the foundation of trust for you to build on.
I’m based in Nottingham, where I work with adults of all ages.
I see clients in two established city centre practices, one of which is wheelchair accessible. I‘m available for phone and online sessions if face to face work isn’t an option for you.
How long we work together depends on the issues you want to explore. I work with clients in both short and long-term settings and there’s no time limit (unless this is something you specifically ask for). You can decide to end our sessions at any time. Ideally we’d agree this together - I believe that how a relationship ends is as important as how it begins - but let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.
